Electron microscopy

The electron microscope facility is a core facility providing state of the art instrumentation and experienced staff to assist researchers and students to obtain quality microscopy. The facility is staffed by a manager, an experimental officer and two experienced microscopists who are actively involved in research and with undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and who will also train and assist both staff and students in all aspects of electron microscopy. The facility offers access to routine Transmission EM, immunolabelling techniques, cryo-TEM, quantitative mass mapping and 3D reconstruction. There are four transmission electron microscopes, a comprehensive preparation laboratory housing a range of specialised equipment, a photographic dark room, digital imaging facilities and computer workstations for image processing.
